William-Adolphe Bouguereau painted a painting called "The Bible". This painting depicts the figure of Biblis, who, according to ancient mythology , was the daughter of Myrna and the sister of Kaunas. The story of Biblis was connected with a tragic love attraction to her own brother, Kaun, which led to her despair and subsequent transformation into a spring of water.

The painting depicts Biblis as a young woman in an artistically arranged position. Bouguereau had the ability to faithfully depict the anatomy and express the feelings of the characters. Bouguereau often created paintings with harmonious compositions and precise details. We can expect the painting of Biblis to radiate calmness and artistic excellence. The painter used rich colors, which add liveliness to his works. The colors could underline the emotional charge of the story of Biblis and her love for her brother.

Prevailing color of this fine art print is brown and its shape is long. This image is printed on demand - you can choose material, size and finishing.

William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905). French academic painter. In his choice of topics, he was a traditionalist: he painted mythological scenes and modern interpretations of Classicist themes (with an emphasis on painting the female body). Bouguereau admired Raphael, and even gave him one of his paintings. In his time, he was considered one of the finest painters, even abroad. At the end of his career, his paintings began to seem too traditionalist, with techniques embedded in the past. In some encyclopaedias, his name even ceased to appear. To date, however, we can consider some of his works beautiful and inspiring.
