Metamorphosis of Narcissus

ID: #579 | TOP 200 | Surrealism | Still life

The painting is based on the motifs of Ovid's Metamorphoses - Narcissus was a young man who could charm every woman. He was self-absorbed to such an extent that the goddess Nemesis decided to punish him: when Narcissus looked down in the water, his face turned into a flower (which still bears his name). The transformation of Narcissus takes place at the pond to the left of the center of the painting. The hand with the egg copies this scene. At the back is Narcissus himself on a plinth once more.

Prevailing color of this fine art print is dark and its shape is landscape.
