Medium: pastel
Location: Musee d'Orsay, Paris, France

The painting shows a ballerina sitting in a comfortable position, in profile. She is dressed in a typical ballet costume with a tutu, which is decorated with a blue ribbon. Her ballet toes are on and there are traces of work on her legs - red spots or abrasions. Her head is bent down and her hands are resting on her feet. The painting has an impressionistic style with visible brushstrokes and diffused light, which gives the scene a kind of haze and softness.
