ID: #8238 | Renaissance | Portraits

The painting is a portrait of a man, painted in a realistic style. The man has long dark shoulder-length hair that is fluffy and small black eyes. He wears simple black clothing with a white lace jabot at his neck. The portrait is set in an oval medallion inside a larger dark frame that looks like stone or marble. At the bottom of the painting is a parchment with Latin text. The painting has an ancient appearance, suggesting that it may date from the Baroque or Renaissance periods.

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682). Spanish baroque painter. He is most famous for his religious paintings (as any artist of his time, he had to respond to demand and most frequently requested themes), but he also painted his contemporaries - mostly women and children. His vivid and realistic portraits florists, beggars, street urchin and other similar characters are an authentic reflection of everyday life in his time.
