Pan's flute

ID: #356 | Kubism | People

The painting shows two men in swimsuits indoors, perhaps in a dressing room or bathing room. The left man is standing and looking directly at the viewer, while the right man is sitting and playing a wooden wind instrument that looks like a pan flute. The figures have highly stylized features and simplified shapes, suggesting the influence of Cubism. The blue and yellow hues on the walls add a calm atmosphere to the picture.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). The son of a professor of painting, whose work includes the entire pilgrimage of modern painting. He created a new style - Cubism - which appeared to various degrees in all his works. The spectrum of his paintings is very diverse (at least 40 different creative periods were identified) and expansive (representing some 35000 pieces). It is therefore impossible to place Picasso in some imaginary pigeonhole. It makes no sense to name his famous works, there are hundreds of them, but it is worth mentioning probably the most famous: Guernica (bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War). This painting is a synthesis of all the art periods - Realism, the blue and pink periods, Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism, etc., a cry against the trampling of basic human values that is distinctly timeless and unfortunately still valid today.
