Lovis Corinth (1858-1925) was a German Expressionist painter. He was painting since childhood, and thus he enrolled to study in Munich and later in Paris. For nine years, he worked in Munich, where he was known not so much for his work, but rather for the ability to drink large quantities of champagne. At the beginning of the 20th century, he moved to Berlin, where he opened a girl’s school of painting, and almost immediately married his first student. About 10 years later, unfortunately, he suffered a stroke and was partially paralyzed on the left side of his body. A tremor began appearing in his right hand. Although he painted landscapes of the Bavarian countryside with alpine lakes, his main artistic device was sensational and very impressive biblical themes.
