Edward Hornel Atkinson (1864-1933) was a
Classicist landscape and flora painter, born in the Australian Bacchus Marsh. Immediately after his birth, the Hornel family moved to Scotland, where Edward studied in Edinburgh. His early work was in the spirit of Druid ceremonies. Along with his friend, the artist George Henry, he travelled to Japan, where he perfected his drawing techniques -
