Scottish
Post-Impressionist painter
Samuel John Peploe (1871-1935). Because he was born into a family of bankers, he was able to study at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy and then at the Académie Julian in Paris. During the first 10 years of the 20th century, he lived in Paris, where he deepened his artistic skill at painting
still lifes. As he himself said, his largest painting inspirations were
Vincent Van Gogh and
Rembrandt. He died in Edinburgh.
